Why Do I need "i-detect"?

Maybe "need" is too strong a word; maybe we should say, "why should I be using i-detect?"

A metal detecting software journal (i-detect) will keep you motivated, on track, and provide a detailed record of your activities.

It's probably safe to say most metal detector users do not keep a record of their activities and are "winging it". They have no way of "keeping score." They don't really how well they've done or not done with their detector. Most of us can remember where we found a certain special item, but what of the other details? It's like having a checking account and not keeping it balanced.

Most of us say we detect for fun and it's a hobby. True enough, but I think most of us still want that "gold coin, silver dollar or rare coin". When we want to justify buying that new detector, it would be good to be able to say to our spouses that we made $750 with our detector last year.

Keeping track of your finds will help to keep you motivated and allow you to see what works (detector settings, headphones, techniques, etc), what locations you do best at, and if you have multiple detectors, which detector is producing best for you.

It takes away the guess work and vague memories and replaces them with dates, amounts and types of coins, relics, or jewelry found and where you found them. It is an organized way to keep research records, notes, and pictures and although you might "get lucky" and find a great item, without research the odds are against you.

i-detect also has a handy place to place to keep pictures and details of your finds so your detecting buddies won't think your telling them "fish" stories.

Yes, you could keep track of your activities with a logbook, notebook, or even on a napkin. Or you could use a word processor. With these methods you'd have to update your coin and collection totals manually and search through your notes to find which locations produced the most silver or jewelry. Sounds fun doesn't it. Personally, we'd rather be detecting in our free time. i-detect does all the record keeping quickly and easily, and at a price of $29.95 we think you'll agree it's money well spent.

Then again, maybe "need" isn't too strong a word...
